The Bullard Farm Caretakers
Maya has a degree in Germanic Languages from Indiana University and has just completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wright State University. She plans to seek employment in the Holliston area in the Counseling field. They are very happy to be closer to two of their children, who live in the area.
Our Farm Caretakers are Bruce Smith and his wife, Maya Bates. Bruce is very experienced in maintenance and construction practices. He built his own solar house in 1981, along with his brother who is a contractor. Bruce has a BA in History from Indiana University and a MA and PhD from Notre Dame University. He has taught history at a variety of colleges and universities over the past 20 years. Most recently, he was the Director of Education at the International College of Broadcasting in Dayton , OH. Bruce has worked in orchards and restored historic houses. His personal and professional life has been dedicated to a love of historic buildings and American history. We believe his extensive background in maintenance of historic buildings, in addition to his love of history, brings the skills needed at the Bullard Farm.
